NEWBORN VISION

When babies are born they can tell the difference between light and dark and black and white. They love contrast. At birth, they see shapes by following the lines where light and dark meet. But, at several weeks old, they are able to see their first primary colours. And recent studies have revealed that the first colour they actually see to be ‘red’. So, I’m very grateful to my cousin for bringing her this colourful baby cot mobile with a beautiful, red butterfly on it. I watch as it dangles above my little baby and as her eyes drowsily drift to the land of nod.
