Feeding your baby should be a decision made by you and your pediatrician and midwife. My baby was gaining weight a little slowly, so I was asked to include a few meals in her diet from the first few weeks itself. But if your baby is of healthy weight then you don’t need to introduce meals this fast. It’s important to remember that until 9-12 months solids are meant to complement breastfeeding or formula and not to replace it. At this point you’re not trying to wean your baby but to introduce her to the sensation of food, different textures and a fuller tummy that the milk may not be able to offer. But it is still the milk that provides baby with the bulk of her nutritional needs.
