After hearing great reviews about Belly Bees Baby Food Jars, I decided to introduce Ahalya to one today. An essentially local product, Belly Bees is the first ever ready to eat baby food manufacturer in Sri Lanka.
Priced very economically at aprox. Rs.200 Belly Bees Baby Food comes in 150g jars of rice, vegetable and fruit based purées that are made using 100% natural ingredients with no preservatives, colours, flavours, salt or sugar.
Today we tried a jar from their 6+ months range (products are categorized according to various stages from 6-18 months) and my baby really liked it. It included mainly apple with cinnamon, vanilla and vitamin C and is available at leading supermarkets in Colombo.
Belly Bees is a product of Quebdeen(Pvt) Ltd and is manufactured at Country Style Foods (Pvt) Ltd – in the SMAK drinks facility, an ISO certified company.
After writing this review, I unfortunately came across a jar of spoilt food. It was a horrible experience and thankfully I always taste the jars before offering it to Ahalya. But I continued to buy Belly Bees jars even later and it never occurred again. It happened just once (I bought that particular batch at the Thalawathugoda Keells) but you can never be too safe with infant food products so, it was quite disappointing.
