I introduced my little one to Guava for the first time today. That was her 62nd ingredient to taste. And because this fruit contains tiny seeds that can be hard on an infant digestive system, I didn’t offer it to her raw.
I peeled and cut the guava and boiled it for a few minutes until soft. I then removed the soggy parts of the fruit that contained the seeds (you can also mash it and put it through a sieve to remove the seeds) and puréed it. This I served Ahalya and she ate it no fuss.
Guava is a storehouse of antioxidants and vitamins including vitamin A, vitamin C, B vitamins, Vitamin K and vitamin E, folate, pantothenic acid, thiamin and riboflavin.
It is known to prevent and treat asthma, acidosis and congestion of the lungs. It fights cancer, promotes healthy eyes and protects against the common cold. Guavas are also a Heart Healthy fruit that aids the healthy development of the brain. Its rich fiber content also boosts digestive health.
